The Wolseley Hotels to Launch with Rebrand of New York's The Chatwal
Minor Hotels has announced the first site for its new The Wolseley hotel brand, taking over The Chatwal hotel in New York and rebranding it as The Wolseley Hotel New York.

## Minor Hotels Launches The Wolseley Hotel Brand in New York Minor Hotels, the Thai-based owner of hotels brands such as NH, Tivoli, Minor, and Anantara, has announced the first site for its new The Wolseley hotel brand. This follows the acquisition of The Wolseley Hospitality Group restaurants in 2024. The first site will be in New York, where Minor is taking over The Chatwal hotel, located close to Bryant Park. The hotel will be rebranded as The Wolseley Hotel New York. The Chatwal has had a complicated time in recent years, jumping between brands, including being part of Unbound Collection under Hyatt's ownership. The Wolseley Hotel New York will occupy the landmark building at 130 West 44th Street, originally constructed in 1905 as the clubhouse for The Lambs Club and designed by the distinguished architectural firm McKim, Mead & White. This historic building is long associated with Broadway's creative community and New York's cultural elite, making it an enduring symbol of the city's theatrical and artistic heritage. ## Boutique Property with Rich History The hotel will have 76 rooms, allowing Minor to create a boutique property. This will enable the hotel to offer a unique and personalized experience to its guests. The property's rich history and architectural design make it an ideal location for a boutique hotel. ## The Wolseley New York Restaurant and Bar At the heart of the property will be The Wolseley New York, the brand's first United States location and the culinary flagship for North America. The restaurant will carry forward the grand café tradition and polished European sensibility established by The Wolseley Piccadilly, offering all-day dining, signature cocktails, and a vibrant yet refined atmosphere. An intimate cellar-level speakeasy bar will provide a more discreet and atmospheric setting, while a fully reimagined wellness and wellbeing centre will reflect the brand's commitment to holistic luxury and guest comfort. ## Refurbishment and Opening The hotel will close at the end of September for refurbishment, reopening in 'early 2027'. Guests with existing reservations are being offered a number of alternatives, including the Park Hyatt New York. The Wolseley Hotel will be part of Global Hotel Alliance when it opens, and a website has already launched for the property.
