A recent update to the Avios reward seat search tool has provided a sobering look at the availability of business class seats on Aer Lingus flights.
The new tool, which includes Aer Lingus availability, has allowed users to search for dates with business class reward seats. This has revealed a grim reality for those hoping to redeem Avios on long-haul routes.
Using the new search tool, a six-month period between October 2026 and March 2027 was analyzed to determine the number of days with two business class seats available on outbound flights from Ireland.

The analysis reveals that on virtually all long-haul Aer Lingus routes, it is impossible to get two seats in business class on any day between October and March. The only routes with some availability are Boston, Hartford, and Philadelphia, but even these have virtually all of their availability in November 2026.
In fact, there is not a single Aer Lingus route with two business reward seats, outbound from Dublin, on any date between January and March 2027. The only bright spot is Shannon, where there is substantial business class availability in October and November to Boston and New York JFK.
This analysis assumes that the new Avios search tool is correct, and highlights the challenges of redeeming Avios on long-haul routes with Aer Lingus.
