British Airways' Tier Point Earnings Now Visible on ba.com
British Airways has added a feature to its website, allowing customers to see how many tier points they will earn on their flights.

Under the new system, British Airways receives 1 tier point for every £1 spent on the base fare, excluding airport charges and government taxes. This change made it difficult for members to plan their status renewal, as the exact number of tier points earned was no longer certain.
However, British Airways has recently updated its website, ba.com, to show how many Avios and tier points customers will earn during the booking process. This change was reportedly visible online for a while before being officially announced to members via email.
The new feature is not without its issues, though. Customers must manually add the bonus tier points to the base tier points, and the system does not display a combined total for outbound and return flights until after payment. Additionally, connecting flights, flights paid with e-vouchers, and flights part-paid with Avios may cause issues with the tier points posting correctly.
Bonus points, which now vary by ticket flexibility, can also post incorrectly according to customer feedback. British Airways does not guarantee that the figure shown during booking is what customers will receive, and complaints after flights may result in the same email response, stating that the total shown is a guide and not a guarantee.
Virgin Trains Ticketing, a standalone rail booking app from Virgin Red, is currently offering two special deals. Firstly, customers can earn 2,000 bonus Virgin Points when they buy a Railcard, which are worth £10 off a future train ticket bought via the Virgin Trains Ticketing app or any other Virgin Points redemption, including flights.
To be eligible for this offer, customers must be 18 years old and store their Railcard inside the Virgin Trains Ticketing app. The offer ends on 20th September, and more information can be found on the Virgin Trains Ticketing app's home page.
In addition to the Railcard offer, Virgin Trains Ticketing has launched a 'double points' promotion, where customers will earn 6 Virgin Points per £1 for all train tickets booked by 20th September. This promotion does not require a Railcard, and Virgin Trains Ticketing automatically offers split ticketing when available, which can lead to extra savings.
