Amex boosts hotel, travel card bonuses
American Express boosts bonus points for adding a first supplementary card to select cards, like the Marriott Bonvoy card, until October 31.
American Express has reintroduced enhanced bonuses for adding a first supplementary cardholder to several of its credit cards. The offer, which runs until October 31st, includes cards that earn hotel loyalty points and general travel rewards.
For holders of the Marriott Bonvoy American Express Credit Card, the bonus for adding a first supplementary card is now doubled to 6,000 Marriott Bonvoy points. The bonus on The Platinum Card jumps from 5,000 to 12,000 Membership Rewards points. The American Express Preferred Rewards Gold Credit Card offers a tripled bonus of 9,000 Membership Rewards points.
There is no minimum spending requirement on the supplementary cards to earn the bonus. The first supplementary card added to an account is also free, making the points effectively a no-cost reward for the primary cardholder.
Bonus points across card portfolio
The promotion extends to several other American Express cards, with increased point bonuses. The offer is strictly limited to the first supplementary card added per account. If a supplementary card is already in place, adding another will not trigger the bonus.

The two American Express Cashback cards currently offer a £25 cashback bonus. The British Airways American Express Premium Plus Card offers 5,000 Avios, while the standard British Airways American Express Credit Card and The Harrods American Express Card offer 1,000 points each.
