Constellation Hotels has appointed former Six Senses CEO Neil Jacobs to lead a new luxury hospitality management company

Constellation Hotels has appointed Neil Jacobs as chief executive of a newly created luxury hospitality management business. The company is preparing to build an international collection of hotels, resorts, and residences, launching later this year.

Jacobs will lead the new operating company, which will be built around Constellation's existing London portfolio: The Connaught, The Berkeley, and The Emory. The new firm will eventually take over management of these London properties once current management agreements end. Constellation Hotels will retain ownership of the assets and responsibility for investment and portfolio strategy.

Leadership and Industry Experience

Neil Jacobs brings extensive luxury hospitality experience to the role. He previously served as chief executive of Six Senses, where he helped expand the business from eight to 27 properties, with a pipeline of over 30 additional projects. Jacobs has also held senior positions at Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts and Starwood Capital Group. He is the founder of the creative advisory collective Wild Origins.

Gianluca Muzzi, chief executive of Constellation Hotels, said Jacobs has "an innate sense of 'what's next' in our industry." Muzzi stated that establishing their own management business is a key strategic step, allowing investment in the properties, brand, people, and operating platform.

The Forthcoming International Collection

The wider collection is expected to include several upcoming properties. These are the forthcoming Saint-Germain hotel in Paris, a development in Marrakech, and Hackwood Park, an English country estate. The individual hotels will retain their existing names and identities within the new collection.

Jacobs commented on the opportunity. "We're in the rare position of forming a new international collection with The Connaught, The Berkeley and The Emory as its foundations," he said. He noted an opportunity to create a richer experience as hospitality and residential communities increasingly overlap.

Industry Reaction and Trend

Carine Bonnejean, managing director of Hotels and International at Christie and Co, provided analysis to Hotel Owner. She called it an interesting move and a sign of the luxury sector's continued evolution. "Owners are increasingly looking for flexible management solutions that combine brand strength with a more owner-focused operating model," Bonnejean stated. She added that Jacobs's experience should position Constellation well and that this reflects a growing trend of owners seeking greater control over luxury hotel management platforms instead of relying solely on major global brands.

The new collection aims to be defined by quality, warmth, and a genuine sense of joy, crafted from its distinctive foundations.
