American Express extends enhanced supplementary card bonuses before October deadline
American Express has increased bonuses for adding a first supplementary card to several of its cards, including Platinum and Marriott Bonvoy.
American Express has significantly increased the bonus points available for adding a first supplementary card to several of its key products. Platinum cardholders can now receive 12,000 Membership Rewards points, while the bonus for the Marriott Bonvoy American Express Credit Card has been doubled to 6,000 points. The enhanced offer ends on 31 October 2024.
The promotion applies to the first supplementary card added to eligible American Express accounts. There is no spending requirement to trigger the bonus. American Express is winding up this special offer across its Gold, Platinum, Marriott Bonvoy, and Nectar card portfolios. "The deal ends on 31st October so don’t miss out," American Express said.
Deadline and eligibility rules
The enhanced bonus offer is strictly time-limited. It will end on Saturday, 31 October 2024. The offer is valid only for the first supplementary card added to each eligible primary American Express card account. An existing supplementary card on one account does not prevent a cardholder from earning a bonus on another eligible card they own.

Different American Express cards offer varying bonus levels under this promotion. The bonuses for some core cards have been more than doubled. The offer covers several card families with no spending requirement to earn the points.

Only the first supplementary card qualifies for the bonus. Cardholders should note that the British Airways and Harrods card bonuses listed are their standard offers and are not part of the enhanced promotion.

This supplementary card promotion coincides with other American Express incentives. Separate listed offers include £25 cashback for adding a supplementary card to either the Amex Platinum Cashback Everyday Credit Card or the Amex Cashback Credit Card.
Also, American Express is currently offering a 35% bonus on all transfers of Membership Rewards points to Marriott Bonvoy. This transfer bonus is available through 10 December 2026. A cited valuation places Marriott Bonvoy points at 0.73 cents each, meaning the 6,000-point supplementary card bonus has a stated value below one cent per point.
