SWISS updates premium menus and expands meal
SWISS launches new Taste of Switzerland menus from Schaffhausen for premium cabins and expands its meal pre-order service to long-haul Economy Class.
SWISS is updating its in-flight catering with new premium menus and a significant service expansion. From September 2, 2026, the airline's Taste of Switzerland program will feature cuisine from the Canton of Schaffhausen on long-haul flights from Zurich and Geneva. Separately, the airline's Pre-Select meal ordering service is now available to all long-haul Economy Class passengers departing Switzerland.
New premium menus from Schaffhausen
The new menus, available for three months, were created by chefs from Villa Sommerlust, the only Michelin-starred restaurant in Schaffhausen. The dishes will be served in First, Business, and Premium Economy classes on long-haul flights. The restaurant is located on the banks of the Rhine near Schaffhausen's Old Town.
First Class passengers will be offered a multi-course meal starting with prawn salad and spicy corn soup. Main course options include beef short rib bourguignon or lobster and scallops. Dessert is caramel flan with espresso ice cream.
Business Class options include a starter of smoked salmon tartare. For the main course, passengers can choose between beef short rib or hake with green sauce. Dessert is a pistachio tartlet.
Premium Economy receives a Swiss-inspired three-course menu. It features a beef roulade called "Fleischvogel," a selection of regional cheeses, and chestnut cake.
Economy Class gains meal pre-selection
SWISS has extended its Pre-Select service to long-haul Economy Class. The airline first offered pre-ordering to First and Business Class in 2022, followed by Premium Economy last year. Passengers can now choose their main course between six weeks and 24 hours before departure.
Selections are made via the SWISS Culinary Journey website or the SWISS app. The airline states it receives approximately 1,000 pre-orders daily. A popular dish, "Zürcher Geschnetzelte," has been selected nearly 42,000 times.
On long-haul flights from Switzerland, Economy passengers can pre-select between a meat dish and a vegetarian option from Hiltl, the world's oldest continuously open vegetarian restaurant. Pre-ordering guarantees passengers receive their chosen main course.
Service details across cabins
The pre-order service functions differently across the airline's network. For short-haul Business Class flights, passengers can order online from up to eight daily meal options. This is particularly relevant on routes like Zurich to London where no menu choice is offered on board.
Short-haul Economy Class passengers can also pre-order from the SWISS Saveurs menu at a ten percent discount off the original price.
The new Schaffhausen menus launch on September 2. The Pre-Select service for Economy Class is now active, allowing passengers to lock in their meal choice well ahead of their flight.
