London City Airport will open its first dedicated lounge, the 09:LDN Suite, in 2027. The facility will be operated by Aspire Pre-Flight Hospitality and aims to provide an raised, airline-independent pre-flight experience for travelers.

The lounge is a significant new development for the airport. It will be situated landside, a strategic choice that simplifies construction and operations compared to an airside location. The name 09:LDN Suite references the airport's Runway 09, which aligns with a 090-degree compass heading, and nods to London's global positioning via the Greenwich Meridian.

Aspire and the airport have designed the space to celebrate London's influence on art, gastronomy, and culture. The intent is to offer a luxury environment that provides more space and relaxation than standard complimentary lounge offerings. It is positioned as a premium alternative, comparable to Aspire's own Luxe and Suite tier products.

Access and Membership Model

Access to the 09:LDN Suite will be available for purchase online or via walk-in. An annual membership program is planned for a future launch, though its timeline remains unspecified. Access through third-party programs Priority Pass and Dragonpass is confirmed, though whether these require an additional co-payment has not been clarified.

Dragonpass currently offers annual lounge subscription tiers at varying price points. The available plans are as follows:

PlanAnnual Cost
Basic£59
Standard£229
Premium£329

A key operational detail is that guests will need to clear airport security after their lounge visit, as the facility is located before the checkpoint. The airport has not yet detailed the specific process for transitioning from the landside suite to the airside departure gates.

Leadership and Background

Thomas Ralls has been appointed as the general manager for the new lounge. He brings experience from London's restaurant scene and private members' clubs, including a role at Soho House's Little House Balham. His background is expected to inform the suite's hospitality-focused offering.

The 09:LDN Suite is anticipated to cater primarily to business travelers and premium leisure flyers seeking high-quality workspace and amenities before their flight. By providing a sophisticated, culturally inspired pre-flight environment, the project aims to bolster London's status as a global travel hub with premium ground services.
