SAS EuroBonus reopens paid status match for British Airways Club
SAS EuroBonus has revived its paid status match, allowing British Airways Club members globally to obtain SkyTeam Elite Plus status for up to 23 months, with fees ranging from €89 to €349.

SAS EuroBonus has brought back its paid status match programme, now open to most of the world. The offer allows British Airways Club members to fast-track to elite SkyTeam benefits. Previously, the match was restricted to UK and EU residents. It is now available to residents of most countries, excluding only China, Brazil, and Argentina.
How British Airways Club tiers convert to EuroBonus
British Airways Club tiers convert directly to SAS EuroBonus status. The match grants immediate SkyTeam alliance privileges. British Airways Club Silver and Bronze status match to SAS EuroBonus Silver and Gold, while Gold Guest List and Premier status match to Diamond. Both the Gold and Diamond tiers in EuroBonus provide the alliance's top Elite Plus level, offering identical core benefits across SkyTeam.
| British Airways Club Tier | Matched SAS EuroBonus Tier | SkyTeam Level | Fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bronze | Silver | Elite | €89 |
| Silver | Gold | Elite Plus | €199 |
| Gold / Gold Guest List / Premier | Diamond | Elite Plus | €349 |
Fees, duration and approval process
Fees for the status match run from €89 to €349. Matched status can last up to 23 months. A new SAS EuroBonus account may receive the full 23-month period. For existing members, status lasts only until the end of the current membership year plus the following full year. If an existing member's year ends in March, for example, status could run from March 2027 to March 2028.
SAS says approval should take three business days, subject to requests for identification or residency evidence. Account upgrades should occur within 10 business days after approval. It is uncertain whether matched members will receive a 'soft landing', dropping only one tier, if they later fail to requalify.
Benefits and limitations across SkyTeam and partner airlines
Matched members receive privileges across all 18 SkyTeam airlines. Benefits include lounge access, priority services, and enhanced baggage allowances. One elite status benefit not available to matched members is the ability to gift status to a friend.
SAS EuroBonus Gold status includes lounge access with a guest, seating and baggage benefits, and free wi-fi on SAS flights. Diamond members add free drinks in SAS economy, a 30% points discount on flight redemptions, and non-expiring EuroBonus miles. When entering an SAS lounge, members may bring one guest or up to four immediate family members.
There are specific partner benefits. SAS EuroBonus Gold and Diamond members get special benefits when flying with Singapore Airlines, including SilverKris lounge access with a guest. A notable carve-out exists for Virgin Atlantic. EuroBonus Gold and Diamond members do not get access to the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse in Heathrow Terminal 3 when flying Virgin Atlantic in economy or premium economy. They are instead directed to the No1 Lounge in the same terminal. This restriction does not apply to other Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse locations. Members can, however, use the Virgin Atlantic Upper Class Wing for check-in. They cannot use the Virgin Atlantic Revivals Lounge, which is reserved for top-tier Virgin and Delta flyers plus premium cabin passengers.
Value comparison and unresolved questions
For British Airways Club Silver and Gold members, choosing between EuroBonus Gold and Diamond costs €150 more despite identical SkyTeam Elite Plus privileges. Diamond status adds SAS-specific perks, including non-expiring miles. Any later status protection for Diamond members remains unclear. Matched status covers the remainder of the member’s EuroBonus year and the following membership year.
